Kids in Saskatchewan Love Nordic Skiing

by skitrax.com

January 13, 2007 – The Fort Saskatchewan Nordic Ski Club children’s cross country ski program for children four to seven years old kicked-off yesterday. The kids were skilled enough to play a game of soccer on skis as the club delivers a skill development program that is designed for children by Cross Country Canada, reported the Fort Saskatchewan Record.

This exciting program conforms to the Canadian long-term athlete development plan and provides development opportunities for children in the first stages of skier development. The Fort Saskatchewan club offers all three levels of the program, including Bunnyrabbit (under 5 years of age), Jackrabbit (up to age 9) and Track Attack (up to age 12). The overall objective of the program is to assist children in the development of a love of the outdoors, a healthy lifestyle, excellent technical skills and a good level of physical fitness within a sport environment.

The Fort Saskatchewan Nordic Ski Club operates out of the Cross Country Ski Center, 1 km east of Turner Park on River Road.
