Canadian Masters 2007 XC Ski Championships this February at Black Jack

provided by the Black Jack Cross Country Ski Club

January 13, 2006 – Rossland, B.C. is enjoying great snow conditions this year and having just finished holding a NorAm race at Black Jack this weekend, we are ready and primed for the Kootenay Savings Community Foundation Canadian Masters Championships races to be held here on February 4-11.

In fact, teams from Eastern Canada were awed and amazed by our great skiing conditions, given that their teammates back in Ontario were roller-blading due to lack of snow! Black Jack Cross Country Ski Club is located 5 minutes from town and Red Mountain overlooks the trails to provide a picturesque skiing venue when it is not snowing. We are considered the friendliest ski club in Canada, so be prepared to be greeted with smiles and a laid back Kootenay attitude which means that what everyone is really interested in is the great skiis you’ve had today and all of the other cares in the world melt away.

Proud sponsors of this event include the Kootenay Savings Credit Union which donated $15,000 towards this event. Our 25th annual Loppett is being sponsored this year by the Salomon Marathon Cup Series which means there is money money to be won.  This is the only race at the Masters which is open to the whole family, so bring your family, and bring your friends.  Let’s get everyone in on the action. Other sponsors are x-c.com who will be holding waxing clinics, giving out prizes and generally adding to the excitement.  We thank all of our sponsors without whom this event could not happen. A detailed list of sponsors can be viewed on our website. Our local radio station, KBS will also be there to give you up to date information as it happens.

We are looking forward to seeing all of you here on February 4-11. Please check our website at www.skiblackjack.ca for more details of the event. You can also register online by going to our website and then clicking on the register part of the details of this race. Check out the pictures of the NorAms at our website to get an idea of what you will encounter when you are here for the Masters. The racing schedule for the week is a 20 km classic race on Monday, a 10km classic race on Wednesday, a 10 km free technique race on Thursday and our 25th annual Loppett and Marathon Cup series which is a 32 km free technique on Saturday. There are fun activities being planned in between the races. Get your accommodation early as space in the town will be limited during this event.

Email us with questions. The email address is on the website as well. See you in February!!!
