April1 7, 2007 – The Canmore Nordic Ski club jointly with the Rundle Mountain Cycling Club is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Program Director. The Program Director will oversee all programs delivered by both clubs, ensuring that high quality training and coaching is provided at all levels. The Program Director will plan the training/racing programs to align with the LTAD model, and in the CNSC will be directly involved with coaching the high performance athletes. The Program Director will supervise and mentor the paid/volunteer coaches from both clubs to ensure professional development and foster a strong coaching team. The position will also involve communication of the overall program goals and related coaching plans with program coordinators and members of both clubs.

This contract position will be year long and located in Canmore. The program director will spend 2/3 of the time with the CNSC, and 1/3 of the time with the RMCC. The Canmore Nordic Ski club has over 500 members and is enjoying an explosive growth in the number of members under age 12. The CNSC offers programs year round in X-country skiing and biathlon. Under the leadership of an enthusiastic and energetic Program Director the club potential is huge.

The RMCC is a relatively new club in Canmore, and runs programs for 6 weeks in May/June and then offers camps in July. Last year the RMCC had 125 members. Biking experience is an asset but not necessary for the position. A strong understanding of training/athlete development and the ability to administer programs and communicate effectively are necessary for the position.
