December 1, 2007 (Kuusamo, Finland) – Bill Demong and Johnny Spillane knotched their second podium and top 10 of the season Saturday in a Nordic Combined World Cup sprint – but this time it was Demong on the podium and Spillane a few seconds farther back.
Bjoern Kircheisen of Germany finished 3.1 seconds ahead of defending World Cup champion Hannu Manninen of Finland with Demong in third place, 13.8 seconds back of the winner. Spillane, who was second Friday in the opening individual event, finished sixth.
In the combined sprint, skiers take one large hill jump and race over 7.5 kilometres. Manninen, as usual, had the fastest race time; Demong was fourth-fastest and Spillane was fifth-fastest. Canadian Max Thompson was 44th in jumping and did not finish the race.
