Randall Skips Rybinsk 10km FR Mass Start

by skitrax.com

February 03, 2012 (Rybinsk, Russia) – When we noticed that Kikkan Randall wasn’t on the start list for Saturday’s World Cup 10km FR Mass start race in Rybinsk we were a little concerned as we know she’s just been under the weather. Her Training Rap was the first glimpse of her plans and we caught up with Sprint Cup leader for more details… here’s what she told us:

“I decided to sit out tomorrow’s race. Since I’m just coming back from being sick I felt that one sprint and one distance race would be sufficient for this week.  While I’m a little sad to be breaking my streak of having done all the world cup races so far this season, I felt this was the best move to make sure I can continue to be strong for the rest of the season.  Plus I know now that my teammates are plenty capable of taking on the world for the team!! :)”

We also heard from Chris Grover, Head Coach U.S. XC Ski Team who confirmed “Kikkan’s not sick – she’s healthy. Just feels like she needs to skip a race to be sharp on Sunday.”
