Marshall and Cockney in Charge at Haywood NorAM Eastern CDN Championship Teck Sprints

February 03, 2012 (Cantley, Quebec) – Top qualifier and NorAm series leader, Alysson Marshall (Larch Hills/AWCA), took no prisoners on her way to victory at the 1.4km freestyle Haywood NorAM Eastern CDN Championship Teck Sprints on Friday hosted by Nakkertok Nordic.

Emily Nishikawa (Whitehorse/AWCA) claimed second and Rocky Mountain Racers speed queen, Andrea Dupont, grabbed 3rd as the competitions took place under overcast skies and -2 degrees C. Ontario’s Kate Brennan (Kanata Nordic/AWCA) was 4th, Heather Mehain from Sovereign Lake, BC, was 5th and Erin Tribe (Team Hardwood/NDC TB) was the 6th in the final

Jesse Cockney (Foothills/AWCA), who qualified second, took home the gold in the men’s A final challenging Brent McMurtry (Foothills/CNEPH) in second for the overall lead. Team Hardwood’s Harry Seaton was third. Series leader, McMurtry, was the fastest qualifier with Cockney second and Russell Kennedy (Canmore Nordic), third fastest in the qualifications, was fourth in the final. Rounding out the top six was Banff Ski Runners/AWCA Graeme Killick in 5th and Drew Goldsack (Rocky Mountain Racers/AWCA) in 7th.
