September 1, 2008 (Whistler, BC) – The US Cross Country Ski team is in Whistler, British Columbia for a 10-day dry land training camp. The team will be training in and around Whistler with multiple workouts and time trials on the roller ski paths at the Callaghan Valley 2010 Olympic site. This is the second of two ski team camps to take place in the Callaghan. The team had an on-snow camp back in early May of 2008.
Both the World Cup team as well as the Continental team is well represented with 15 out of 18 athletes present. A-team skiers include Kris Freeman, Torin Koos, Andy Newell and Kikkan Randall – Chris Cook will arrive in a few days. The Continental Cup has Tazlina Mannix, Laura Valaas, Rosie Brennan, Lindsey Dehlin, Lindsay Williams, Morgan Smyth, Morgan Arritola, Liz Stephen and Noah Hoffman. Simi Hamilton has been invited to the camp as a guest. Coaches Matt Whitcomb, Chris Grover, Justin Wadsworth, and head coach Pete Vodenberg, along with the teams new strength coach Alex are also in town.
With all the athletes arriving in Whistler over the last couple of days, today is day one of the camp. The team will get things going with a classic sprint time-trial at the Olympic venue.
