November 10, 2008 (Vancouver, BC) – Just in time for the first snowfall, the British Columbia Nordic Marketing Society has re-launched the new bcnordic.com website. For 2008-2009, the BC Nordic website offers comprehensive information about the 14 unique Nordic destinations in each of British Columbia’s designated tourism regions. There are many ways to use this easy to navigate website to begin planning your next BC cross-country skiing adventure.
Getting Started:
Get the rundown on basic Nordic gear requirements, clothing, wax resources and ski tips.
Where to Ski and Stay:
Check out the popular Nordic skiing and snowshoeing destinations around the province, as well as places to go backcountry skiing and even dog sledding. Click on the Google Maps function to pinpoint where each Nordic facility is exactly located. Helpful links are provided to local tourism associations and community Nordic clubs so that viewers can match the region they wish to visit with local accommodation providers. This is sure to be a popular section for planning your Nordic ‘road trip’ this winter.
Events:
Offers a list of both sanctioned and non-sanctioned ‘fun races’ and loppets, and other exciting events throughout the province – plan your next weekend getaway or day trip by referring to the calendar of Nordic events.
Resources:
All the links you need to find Nordic gear specialty stores near each of the destinations, as well as a comprehensive list of Nordic, snowshoe, and backcountry ski equipment companies. Links to Nordic club websites, related media/magazine websites, and provincial and national organizations are listed there as well. There’s even a list of websites that link to travel and weather information throughout the province.
While you’re dreaming about striding or skating over snowy trails this winter, why not add bcnordic.com to your favourites page, and check back frequently for updates and new information. It’s all you really need to ‘know Nordic’ in BC.
