December 3, 2008 (Canmore, AB) – This past weekend the first Biathlon NorAm Cup of the season took place at the Canmore Nordic Center on Nov. 29-30. Despite low snow levels the Nordic Centre managed to pull off the two-day event. Day one saw the athletes participating in the Individual Sprint event. Tyson Smith of Foothills Nordic won the open men’s 10km race in a time of 24:21.4, followed by Nathan Smith of Foothills and Brendan Green of Hay river Nordic.

Jessican Sedlock won the women’s 7.5km sprint in a time of 23:35.0, finishing ahead of Jennifer Wright of US Biathlon, and Lindsey Bolivar of Rocky Mountain Racers took third. For the day’s complete results click here.

On Sunday, day two of the NorAm Cup races featured the Individual distance race. Winning the open men division was 15.4km race was Foothill Nordics Nathan Smith in 43:15.1, following him in second and third were Jamie Robb of Emonton Nordic and Tyson Smith of Foothills.

Megan Tandy of Biathlon BC-HP won the women’s 15.4km open women’s race in 50:30.8, followed by Jessica Sedlock of Biathlonschool.com and Cindy Clark of Rocky Mountain Racers. For complete results click here.
