Ski Jumping Continental Cup Schonach – Van Finds Podium on Day 2

January 11, 2009 (Schonach, Germany) – The U.S. Ski Team’s Lindsey Van (Park City, UT) moved up a notch from Saturday’s jumps, finishing third in a Continental Cup in Schonach, Germany on Sunday to advance from fifth to third in the Cup standings.

Van Fourth in Germany Jump
On Saturday Van led Americans, finishing fourth. “I feel pretty happy with a fourth-place finish. I had one good jump and one OK jump,” Van said. “I don’t like getting beat, but I’m psyched with how my jumping is going and with where it could go.”

Alissa Johnson (Park City, UT) followed Van in ninth and Jessica Jerome (also Park City) was 13th. The women jumpers had their awards ceremony at a local cancer hospital for children, which, Van said, she hoped was fun for the children. “I think they were pretty intimidated by a bunch of athletes. I tried to make it around and say hello, but it’s hard speaking to kids who are so young and so sick in a different language,” Van said. “I’m glad we could go there and I hope we could brighten their day a little bit.”

The women jump in Germany again on Sunday and according to Van, she has a simple plan. “I’m going to do my thing and try to have two good jumps in a row,” Van said
