While I’m home, I’ll be doing a free dryland training clinic in the cities. If you can come, please do! It’s on Monday September 24 from 4:00-5:30 pm, at Falcon Heights Community Park, which is located at the southeast corner of Roselawn Avenue West and Cleveland Avenue North. Bring bounding (or classic length) poles!
For details, check it out HERE.
I know I talk a lot about this idea of an intensity camp, but haven’t been specific as to what that really means, so to give you an idea of what I’m talking about… here’s a sample from my training log. Sorry for those of you for whom this is exceedingly boring, but I’ve been told that I don’t detail enough of the “blood n’ guts” of what daily training is really like. So if you’re curious as to what went down this week, this is it:
Monday: Total hours: 4.5 – AM: 2 hour 15 min skate with 15 x 20-30 second speeds. PM: 45 min run, 1.5 hour strength session in the gym.
Tuesday: Total hours: 3:45 – AM: 2 hour 15 min skate with 5 x 10 min L3 intervals. PM: 1.5 hour run
Wednesday: Total hours: 4.5 – AM: 3 hour distance classic. PM: 1.5 hour skate
Thursday: Total hours: 4.5 – AM: 2.5 hour classic with sprint race (4 rounds of 4:45 min all-out sprint heats). PM: 30 min run, 1.5 hour strength session in the gym.
Friday: Total hours: 3:15 – AM: 1 hour 45 min run with a 45 min straight L3 bounding/running interval. PM: 1.5 hour double pole
So needless to say, my body is SORE right now. But it doesn’t matter because in less than 24 hours I will be home eating a delicious home-cooked meal, cuddling my dogs and catching up with my family!
Ahem. And… unpacking and doing laundry, too.
