June 8, 2009 (Vienna, Austria) – Ten current and former Austrian Ski Federation members have been indicted after a criminal investigation into a blood doping scandal at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy, reported USA Today on Saturday. The trial will begin this October.
In a raid of the Austrian cross-country ski and biathlon team accommodations at the Games in Turin, Italian police discovered extensive evidence of doping and sanctioned the Austrian Federation with a 1 million USD fine and slapped four athletes with lifetime bans.
