October 2, 2009 – Chad Salmela, the head coach at the College of St. Scholastica University in Minnesota, has been tapped by NBC to announce biathlon and cross country ski events at the 2010 Olympics in Whistler. He will also announce the cross country portion of the Nordic combined competitions.

Salmela has been announcing since 1998 when he retired from racing, and worked part of the Salt Lake City games. Then, at Torino in 2006, Salmela covered all of the biathlon competitions. For the 2010 games, he will be working with Al Trautwig, an NBC Olympics regular who also does commentary on pro basketball and hockey.
