November 3, 2009 (Vernon, BC) – The snow is groomed and tracks are set at Sovereign Lake Nordic Centre for it’s earliest opening in five years. With over a foot of dry snow on the hill, SLNC manager Scott Lemon said the conditions are most favorable for skiing. Skiers at SLNC are excited about the early start to the season as the centre opened on Thursday, Oct 29. “I was skiing on Halloween. That was a first,” said Janine Arnold.
“We have trails open for all abilities and we have about 20km of track set,” said Lemon. “It’s a pleasant start to the season. We’ve made it easy for skiers to identify which runs are open. Coloured signs mark the direction of the trails.”
SLNC season passes are on sale online at early season rates until Nov 15th. Day passes and rentals are available at SLNC. Opening hours are from 8am – 5pm.
