Mont-Sainte-Anne – First for North-Eastern XC Skiing

December 8, 2009 (Beaupré, QC) – Renowned for the quality and quantity of its snow, Mont-Sainte-Anne has taken advantage of the season start to set up a new cross-country skiing loop at the summit of the mountain, available exclusively for training camps. The 800 meter loop will is located on the West side, where natural snowfall is most important.

Opened since December 6, Nordic skiers must cross paths with skiers and snowboarders by taking the gondola to access their exclusive xc trail, which can welcome up to 50 athletes simultaneously, in both skating and classic styles. Teams from Quebec, Ontario and the Eastern United States are expected in the following days.

Important snow precipitations are expected in the Mont-Sainte-Anne area in the following 48 hours, should the expected 30cm of snow come through the Mont-Sainte-Anne cross-country skiing centre will welcome its first Nordic skiers this week-end.

Pierre Harvey Training Center
Mont-Sainte-Anne, host to the Pierre Harvey Training Center (CNEPH), is a veritable athlete producer. The CNEPH, which was created thanks to the efforts of Pierre Harvey himself and XC Ski Canada, has since contributed to the development of renowned athletes such as Guido Visser and Katerine Hasting. Two of the country’s most promising athletes were even born here: Frédéric Touchette and Alex Harvey, son of Pierre Harvey.
