Review of WADA’s International Standard for Testing

release by FIS

December 10, 2009 – With nearly one year’s experience of the WADA’s new International Standards for Testing, which is an obligatory element of the World Anti-Doping Code, FIS was included in the expert group invited to review various experiences since the implementation of the regulations.

UCI (Cycling) and the National Anti-Doping Agencies from the UK and USA joined WADA experts in a workshop comprising two half-day sessions in London. The main areas of focus centered on the composition of the registered testing pool, whereabouts submissions, test distribution planning and administrative aspects.

Based on the presented experiences on the implementation, the group discussed the Standard’s effectiveness in these areas. As a next step, all International Federations and National Anti-Doping Agencies will be invited to give input, in order for eventual additional guidelines to be compiled to support the anti-doping work.
