January 4, 2010 (Anchorage, AK) – Kikkan Randall (USSki Team/APUNSC) picked up the pace and used that World Cup-level speed to pull ahead of Caitlin Compton of Go! Training, to win the U.S. Cross Country National 10km Freestyle Championships. USSkiTeam and Burke Mountain Academy grad, Liz Stephen came in third, to round out the women’s podium.
The low-snow coverage on the trails led the organizers to send the top 60 skiers out first, with the A seed at the end of the block of 60, to minimize the effect of the dirt coming up through the snow, as first the men, then the women, did laps of the 5km loop.
