January 20, 2010 (Obertilliach, Germany) – This weekend, the Dolomitenlauf in Osttirol will take place. Two thousand participants from over 30 nations can expect optimal cross-country conditions and fantastic winter landscape. Amateur skiers are especially invited to take part in this major event according to the motto: “Everyone is a winner”.
Since there is not enough snow in Lienz the Classic Race over 42/25km on Saturday 23 January and the 36th Dolomitenlauf over 42km on Sunday the 24th will be carried out in Obertilliach. Start and finish is located at the Nordic Center. Participants from around the world will experience a new course which contains fewer uphills and will provide athletes and spectators with an excellent experience with a loop going through the biathlon stadium.

Top Skiers on the Start – As the Dolomitenlauf is part of the FIS Marathon Cup many well known cross-country skiing names will take part. Current leader of the FIS Marathon Cup and multiple Vasaloppet winner, Oskar Svärd (SWE), will be standing in the red jersey at the start. Many other skiers can be counted among favorites for victory, namely Martin Larsson (SWE), Marco Cattaneo (ITA), Fabio Santus, Bruno Carrara and Sergio Bonaldi (all ITA). German should not be underestimated either as long distance specialist Thomas Freimuth will come to Dolomitenlauf, too.
Dolomite Sprint on Friday – The 36th Dolomitenlauf kicks off in Lienz on Friday at 19.00 clock with the Dolomite Sprint. Over thirty top sprinters have already registered and will be fightint in the unique Sprint Arena on the main square of Lienz.
