SIRC Production Assistant

Job Description:
The Sport Information Resource Centre (SIRC) is the resource and communication centre used by sport groups across Canada and around the world. SIRC has over 8 million pages of sport related material, covering topics such as coaching and training, sport management, injury prevention and treatment, nutrition, sport law, etc. Clients range from professional and amateur sport teams, to coaches, sports medicine practitioners, students, researchers, and sport administrators. Sport groups come to SIRC for training and meetings as well as assistance with research, preparing newsletters, marketing material and development of technical programs. SIRC provides Canada’s only daily summary of sport related press releases, announcements and job postings to the thousands of members of our sporting community.
SIRC requires the services of a dedicated, detail-orientated person to fill the position of Production Assistant. This position is part-time, 25-30 hours a week.
The Production Assistant will follow the directions of and will report directly to the Communications Coordinator to coordinate the activities of SIRC and ensure all actions are consistent with the mandate, plans and policies of the Centre.
The Production Assistant would be responsible for the digitization of the SIRC Collection. The candidate will scan material as it arrives in the library as well as edit and catalogue existing digital material.
Job Responsibilities:
– Scanning and digitizing of collection into electronic format
– Organizing and maintaining digital collection
– Data entry
– General office administrative duties
– Document Delivery (backup)
– Reception duties (backup)
– Disseminating press releases and managing sport job board (backup)
Skills needed:
– Must be well organized and detail-oriented
– Comfortable with computers
– Working knowledge of MS Office Suite especially Outlook, Word & Excel
– Comfortable working with the public
– Takes direction well
– Team player who is able to work independently
– Components of the job could include some lifting and long periods of standing.
– Willingness to tackle challenges
– Excellent typing skills
– Excellent phone skills
– Love of Sport
Skills that would set you above the rest:
– Bilingual (oral and written)
– Working knowledge of HTML coding and Adobe
$10-12/hour + incentives if targets exceeded
