My Mom Came to Town!!!
My Mom is in town!! She arrived on the 5th and is here for another day before heading back to our new puppy and my Dad who are anxiously awaiting her return to Vermont. It has been so nice having her out here. Today she tried out the Alter-G at the COE and ran intervals on it at a 7 minute mile pace! I was so impressed, and I think she may have some sore muscles tomorrow! We have had some really good dinners together, gotten to hang out with some of the people in my life out here in Utah who mean the world to me, and it has been really amazing to have her out here.

Sun Valley
After a very short workout and physical therapy session this morning I headed to Sun Valley, Idaho with Ruth Flanagan, the vice president of the foundation at the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association, and Sasha Rearick, head coach for men’s alpine. The drive from Park City to Sun Valley takes about five hours. We were in Ruth’s nice U.S. Ski Team Audi, and I was able to get some work done so it went by quickly. We are here in Idaho for a U.S. Ski Team fundraiser. I wasn’t very excited about this trip, but I have had a great time so far. I’m staying at Steve and Diana Strandberg’s beautiful home with slopestyle skier Ashley Battersby and moguls skier K.C. Oakley

Andy Newell (sort of blog)
Go For the Gold
Flash floods in the forecast were not enough to keep Andy Newell inside. The two-time Olympic cross-country skier and his SMS T2 teammates, along with a group of elite juniors from the Northeast, headed to the nearby Ball Mountain Dam access road to do double pole intervals on roller skis — a workout aimed at increasing speed in the last, painful part of a cross-country sprint.

Crashing the CSU camp
I’m guessing that you’re reading this blog because you’re genuinely curious about what life is like as a full time skier. Either that or you lost a bet, are really bored, or are currently furious with your StumbleUpon browser for bringing you here. Whatever the reason, this post is mainly about what we’ve been doing the last week in Vermont and what happens when we’re NOT training.
