December 27, 2013 (Oberhof, Germany) – With only two days left until the start of the 8th edition of the Viessmann FIS Tour de Ski performance by Craft Sportswear the Organizing Committee of Oberhof (GER) worked hard to prepare the course in difficult weather conditions.

Due to extremely warm weather, wind and rain the Organizing Committee of Oberhof and FIS decided to change the competition program of the FIS Tour de Ski Stages in Oberhof (GER).

Shorter competition course, sprint free on Sunday

The competition course will be shortened to 1,500m and will be used both on Saturday and Sunday for ladies’ and men’s competitions. On Saturday ladies will ski two rounds and the men three rounds.

The biggest change in the Oberhof program is related to Stage 2. The program has been changed to sprint free. Both ladies and men will ski one lap – 1.5 km.

Rest of the FIS Tour de Ski as planned

The rest of the FIS Tour de Ski stages will be carried out as planned. Snow conditions in Switzerland and Italy have been very good. Lenzerheide received a good dose of boxing day snow, ending a longer warm period.

Good news came this morning from Toblach. Heavy snowfall arrived also on the 26th of December in the Pusteria Valley, which will allow the Organizing Committee to cover the entire length of the competition course from downtown Cortina to Toblach with snow. Also Val di Fiemme is ready to welcome World’s best skiers in the Cross-Country venue at Lago di Tesero and on Alpe Cermis.

Thanks to good snow conditions in the other FIS Tour de Ski venues the competition program stays unchanged.
