January 09, 2014 (Vancouver, BC) – Skiers between the ages of 8-16 who want to improve their basics of cross-country skiing can now register for the Nordic Racers Ski Club’s Junior Skills Development Program! As this is a fully integrated program, both able-bodied skiers and skiers with physical disabilities that allow them to stand ski are welcome to join.
Now led by Cara McCullough, this program will be suitable for participants who have no more than 3 years skiing experience and/or are still learning the basic skills of classic skiing including snow plow, diagonal striding, double poling and kick double pole.
Skiers with skills beyond the scope of this program and are interested in competing in Olympic-style races should consider registering for our Nordic Racers Integrated Race Team.
The program will run Saturday mornings from 9:30am to 11:30am starting Saturday, January 25th at Cypress Mountain’s nordic area. The final session on March 15th will be an all-day trip to Whistler Olympic Park so program participants can enjoy practicing their new skills on some new trails!
