Norway’s Jacobsen Recovers for FIS World Cup Finals in Falun

release by FIS

March 13, 2014 – Norway’s Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen arrived in Falun Wednesday night ready to start the three-day World Cup finals just three days removed from her crash during the Holmenkollen 30km CL. After being cleared medically to resume skiing Jacobsen told NRK.no that “…when they say that I am medically cleared to go skiing in competition, I see no reason to sit at home and twiddle my thumbs.”

Jacobsen leads her teammate Heidi Weng by 189 points for third place in the overall standings heading into the final competitions of the season. The World Cup finals mini-tour kicks off on Friday with classic technique sprints, the same competition that made Jacobsen a World Champion in 2007. On Saturday, the ladies will compete in a 15km Skiathlon, followed by a free technique pursuit start 10km on Sunday to wrap of the World Cup season.
