Job Opportunity – Marketing and Events Manager at Canadian Sport Centre Manitoba

September 21, 2014 – The Canadian Sport Centre Manitoba is seeking a Marketing & Events Manager who is responsible for the development and delivery of an overall communications and marketing strategy for the centre. They will drive internal and external communications and marketing initiatives with several stakeholder groups, and establish effective media relations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating monthly e-newsletters, annual reports, brochures, posters, flyers, presentations, and any other marketing materials needed.  The Marketing & Events Manager will also manage and maintain the CSCM website, facebook page and twitter account; growing the social media network for the Sport Centre.

Finally, they will assist staff with the development of specific marketing materials as required, and attend functions along with, or in place of, the GM, and professionally represent CSCM as required. They will be the event planner for any/all events put on by CSCM, or in conjunction with CSCM’s partners.

Qualifications

– Degree or diploma with a focus on communications and/or marketing.
– Minimum 5 years’ experience in full-time marketing or communications position.
– Experience in event coordination, project management, and media relations.
– Experience in social media, website platforms, and blog development.
– Experience in report and proposal writing, and making presentations.
– Excellent writing, editing and proofing skills.
– Ability to develop a variety of professional communication materials for various mediums (brochures, posters, flyers, ads, radio spots, videos, blogs, etc.).
– Ability to work in a multi-faceted environment with excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
– Attention to detail, timely follow-through, and commitment to results.
– Ability to draw from and establish connections with multiple groups (staff members, board members, athletes, sponsors, other organizations, etc.).
– Must be a quick-study and self-starter, with the ability to take initiative and work independently.
– Must have creative thinking skills with the ability to think “outside the box.”
– Strong Microsoft Office skills including PowerPoint.
– Must have valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle, and be willing to work at events outside of regular office hours when required.
– Working knowledge of Photoshop, and other design programs.
– Proficiency in photography, and/or video production, is an asset.
– Speaking and writing both English and French is an asset.

The Canadian Sport Centre Manitoba (CSCM) was created as one of the many legacies of the 1999 Pan American Games held in Winnipeg. CSCM is recognized as the ‘hub’ for high performance sport activities in Manitoba.  The CSCM provides services and programs to enhance the training environment for Olympic and pre-Olympic athletes and coaches throughout the province.  The CSCM is committed to supporting high performance athletes and coaches in their pursuit of podium performances in national and international competitions.
