Men’s MS100 Ski Jumping Qualifications @ Falun 2015 – USA’s Rhoads Makes the Final

February 21, 2015 (Falun, SWE ) – Simon Ammann (SUI) was the surprising winner of the qualification for the men’s Normal Hill competition yesterday at the World Championships in Falun. The four-time Olympic Champion, who didn’t take part in any competition since his fall in the final event of the 4-Hills-Tournament in Bischofshofen, showed the longest jump of the day on 93.5 m and won with 119.0 points ahead of Taku Takeuchi and Anders Bardal.

Takeuchi jumped on 92 m for 118.0 points. Defending champion Anders Bardal, who suffered a wrist fracture in Wisla and made his comeback in Falun, also landed at 92 m and scored 117.2 points.

Andreas Wellinger, who also made his comeback after a long break due to injury, jumped on 91 m and finished on a good fourth place with 114.5 points.

Making his first major event appearance, Will Rhoads flew 84.5 meters to place 30th and qualify for Saturday’s men’s MS100 ski jumping finals. Teammate Nick Alexander missed qualifying by a mere tenth of a point, finishing 41st – a half meter short of making the field. No Canadians competed.
