FIS 2014/15 Season Stats – 22,715 Athletes on Board

April 02, 2015 – With more than 6,500 events across 50 different nations and on five continents, the FIS competition season 2014/15 has almost reached its conclusion. Among the multitude of events, the six FIS World Championships and five FIS Junior World Championships have provided special highlights on the calendars of the different disciplines which were a great promotion for the sport.

A total of 22,715 athletes competed in FIS events at all levels, of which Alpine Skiing had the largest number (8,594). At World Cup and World Championship levels, 4,211 athletes were registered, with Alpine Skiing (1,083) featuring the highest number, followed by Freestyle Skiing (1,068), Cross-Country Skiing (1,064) and Snowboard (996).

On site, no fewer than 700 Technical Delegates and more than 300 Judges helped to conduct the competitions from a technical perspective.
