April 20, 2015 (Canmore, AB) – Two of Canada’s top biathletes, Brendan Green and Rosanna Crawford, fired into new territory this season with record-setting top-five results on the World Cup circuit. The Canadian duo will now embark on a four-day journey through some of Canada’s most northern communities where they will introduce personal stories with hundreds of school children north of the Arctic Circle in Inuvik, For McPherson and Fort Simpson.

Competing in a sport that is relatively unknown, or supported, in Canada Green, originally from Hay River, N.W.T., and his girlfriend Crawford (Canmore, Alta.) will share their story of defying the odds while climbing from the bottom of the international standings into podium contenders in one of the world’s most difficult and deep Olympic sports.

“Being a rare Olympian that has come from the North West Territories, it has been a big goal of mine and Rosanna’s to return to Canada’s northern communities to inspire other kids to believe the unthinkable is possible,” said Green. “In mentioning our goal to my sponsor, NT Power Corporation, they have helping us make this dream a reality.”

Two models of consistent development over the last four years, Green and Crawford took on the world’s best and delivered this year with record-setting results. Green, who had a career best fifth-place finish, also set a new international shooting streak record after knocking down 50 straight targets this year. Crawford caught fire early in the year with an impressive fourth and fifth-place finish of her own.

“Our team as a whole celebrated a historic season, and are proof, anything is possible if you dream big, work hard and remain committed to achieving your goals,” said Crawford. “While neither of us have completed our own dreams of standing on the international and Olympic podiums, we wanted to take time out of our journey to give back to the people who have helped us get this far.

“Whether it is sport, academics, art or music, we hope to motivate these kids through our passion for biathlon, and demonstrate that with hard work while remaining focused on the ultimate goal, every step counts along the way.”

The two-time Olympians will begin their journey travelling from Yellowknife to Inuvik on April 20 where they will speak to a group of Grades 7 to 12 students.
