May 18, 2015 – The Arrowhead Nordic Ski Club in Huntsville, ON, is seeking a Skills Development Program Coordinator for the implementation and supervision of the Skills Development Program (Bunny Rabbit and Jack Rabbit). This position will require the following:
Job Description: The Skills Development Program (SDP) Coordinator is responsible for the following
- Prepare a budget for the SDP;
- Hire Instructors and Leaders in Training;
- Facilitate two instructor training days;
- Be on site at Arrowhead Provincial Park for each youth program date;
- Run an instructor’s meeting at 9:40 a.m. and 12:40 p.m. each week;
- Lead an introductory meeting for parents on the first day of program;
- Collect and return club radios each session;
- Communicate with parents weekly;
- Communicate with instructors regarding specific concerns (e.g. late arrival, lesson planning);
- Run special events (e.g. Beckie Scott Sprints, Orienteering Course, World Snow Day,etc.);
- Coordinate parent volunteers (e.g. hut helpers, timekeepers, etc.);
- Monitor instructors’ performance, including reviewing lesson plans and ensuring implementation;
- Order and distribute materials from Cross Country Ontario (CCO);
- Ensure program begins promptly on time;
- Motivate and encourage instructors;
- Provide specific feedback to instructors;
- Liaise with the ANSC Board and park staff;
- Assist with behavior management, as necessary;
- Review emergency procedures with instructors, including the creation of an Emergency Action Plan.
- Tabulate CCO Awards and distribute on the last day of program;
- Create a written report at the conclusion of the season and submit to the board and present at the Annual General Meeting.
