July 21, 2015 – Hello Skiers and Parents. Hope all of you in reading your gear AND your psyche for what will be a great week. Below is a list of the camp staff with their numbers. Please put these into your phones so you can get in touch as needed.
Any last minute questions should be directed to Kate Barton – kbarton@burkemtnacademy.org if something comes up.
Arrival Day on Friday July 24
For those of you flying into Burlington – PLEASE PUT PAUL SMITH (315) 480-6104 on speed dial and text him immediately with any delays regarding your flight into Burlington. Include new flight info if your itinerary gets changed. Paul is coordinating all shuttles from the airport to the UVM Campus. We will collect you from the airport whenever you arrive so just stay in touch if you get delayed. We will also coordinate a evening meal for any who arrive after Friday dinner.
For those of you driving, you will meet at University of Vermont Hamilton Hall 438 S. Prospect St Burlington VT. Kate Barton and Amber Dodge will be there starting at 10am to handle athlete check in to rooms, meal credentials, etc.
For those of you who arrive before 3pm, there will be an easy workout conducted at 3pm – plan on a light run and some core work.
Training Schedule
For the schedule for the week pls click here. As you know, this is a big camp so we need you to be super organized. Get your gear ready well before the planned workout so you are not looking for equipment at the last minute and 5 minutes early = On Time!
The National Nordic Foundation
This camp is sponsored by the NNF and as such we really want to do all we can to help tell the NNF story and in turn what we are really doing is helping ourselves! The NNF underwrites every critical US Development Skiing Project from the National U16 Camp all the way to helping our best skiers attend the highest levels of competition such as World Championships. The coaches will be asking you to help with blogging through the week on the NNF site and throwing some fun and inspiring training pics out to the ski world all in the effort of promoting our sport. You guys are now the ambassadors for our sport so thanks in advance for all of your help.
Health and Wellness!
If you do start feeling a little under the weather or have an injury, please speak directly to Kate Barton and Amber Dodge. (its okay to tell any coach for sure but Kate and Amber are handling medical needs) They will assist you and help you get back on track. We have a trainer in support of the camp through the week so again, let us know if you are dealing with a physical issue and we will get you assistance
Special Meal Needs
Any of you with special food needs or allergies should have indicated as such on the registration form and we have that BUT, we also ask you to touch base again at check in with Kate and Amber to confirm one more time your special dietary requirements. It is no problem for us to manage this, we just have to know and again, with 55 of you it really helps to get a reminder
Bedding
One last reminder that you need to bring linens (twin) a pillow and blanket or sleeping bag.
