November 04, 2015 – Finland’s Aino-Kaisa Saarinen announced on her twitter account today with a vimeo message that she is expecting a child with her husband Tom Gustafsson, a former Finnish National Team basketball player.

“I’ve got you a wonderful happy news. We’re having a baby in the spring. All has gone well, otherwise I could not very well have been able to practice,” Saarinen says to start the video.

Saarinen participated in the opening Finnish Cup competition in Vuokatti last weekend.  Moving forward she adds that she will compete as is possible while pregnant and that safety is the main focus.

“Week by week we go. I have never been in such a situation. If all goes really well until Christmas I could compete,” Saarinen reveals.

Saarinen’s next big goal is the FIS 2017 World Championships in her hometown of Lahti, Finland.
