February 27, 2016 (Gatineau, Que.) – Thunder Bay’s Scott Hill, 21, with Lakehead University, was suffering from jet lag yet he still claimed the men’s 51km CL at the Gatineau Loppet on Saturday, Feb. 27, with Julien Locke from Nelson, BC in second and Canmore’s Ian Murray, the defending champ, in third.
Hill and Locke had just returned from Rasnov, Romania where they competed at the 2016 FIS Nordic World Junior/U23 Championships. Bozeman, Montana’s Brandy Stewart took the women’s crown over local favourite Megan McTavish out of Chelsea, Que., with American Elissa Bradley from Portland, Oregon in 3rd.
