March 20, 2016 (Khanty Mansiysk, Siberia) – The final day of competition in Khanty Mansiysk, the last round of the 2016 BMW IBU World Cup, started with strong gusty winds. The Women’s mass starts were postponed first, but later the decision was made to cancel both competitions due to safety reasons. A light pole on the shooting range fell down due to severe gusting winds. While nobody was injured the athletes, spectators and staff were told to leave the stadium for security reasons.
Below are the final overall standings.
American Susan Dunklee led the North American women in 14th overall followed by Canada’s Rosanna Crawford in 32nd as Gabrieal Soukalova (Cze) won the overall, Pursuit, Sprint and Mass Start globes.
Tim Burke (USA) led the men in 15th with teammate Lowell Bailey in 17th and Nathan Smith from Canada in 28th as Martin Fourcade took his 5th consecutive overall series title along with the Pursuit, Sprint, andĀ Mass Start globes as well – read more here.
