April 30, 2016 – Charlotte Kalla, Sweden’s top skier and an Olympic, World and FIS Tour de Ski champion, has decided to leave the national team to train independently. “I want to try something new in my career. After ten years with the national team, I am now ready to make changes and follow a set-up I have strong faith in. I think that the result of the cooperation with my personal trainer Magnus Ingesson will be better if we can continuously meet for monitoring, planning and work,” said Kalla said in a team press release.

Johan Sares, head of Cross-Country says he understands that Kalla wants to break a pattern and do what she thinks is best for her development. “Of course, we’d like to have Charlotte with the national team’s training group, but we understand her choice and supports her in that effort, she knows herself what she has to do. Everyone wants a Charlotte Kalla in the best shape for the winter, we respect her decision.”
