June 03, 2016 – The 28th Winter Universiade is taking place in Almaty, Kazakhstan from January 29 to February 8, 2017. Selected athletes for these World University Games (WUG) will be contacted by email. If a selected athlete declines his/her nomination to the team, the next athlete on the appropriate list (sprint or distance) will be selected.

This process will occur over a 3-week period and the resulting final team selected will be posted June 10, 2016.
