U.S. Biathlon Names Early-Season World Cup Roster

November 11, 2016 – The U.S. Biathlon International Competition Committee has named Russell Currier (Stockholm, Maine – an Outdoor Sports Institute athlete) to the World Cup Team for World Cups 1-3, thus finalizing the roster.

Currier’s selection was based on his recent results at races in Canmore, Alberta, Canada on Nov. 9 and Nov. 10. Sean Doherty (Center Conway, N.H.), who is recovering from an illness, remains possible for later World Cups in December.

The World Cup season begins in Oestersund, Sweden at the BMW IBU World Cup 1 Nov. 27-Dec. 4. Team USA will then compete at World Cup 2 in Pokljuka, Slovenia, Dec. 9-11 and World Cup 3 in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic, Dec. 15-18.

Women
– Susan Dunklee (Barton, Vt.)
– Clare Egan (Cape Elizabeth, Maine)
– Joanne Reid (Boulder, Colo.)

Men
– Lowell Bailey (Lake Placid, N.Y.)
– Tim Burke (Paul Smiths, N.Y.)
– Russell Currier (Stockholm, Maine – Club: Outdoor Sports Institute, (formerly Maine Winter Sports Center))
– Leif Nordgren (Marine, Minn.)

The ICC wishes all the athletes who participated in the trials this summer and fall well and good luck in the early competitions of the season.
