The winners used four spare and finished with a time of 31.41.7 while Austria’s Lisa Hauser and Simon Eder finished second at 23s back using six spares. Germany’s duet of Franziska Preuss and Erik Lesser placed third at 33.8 seconds back with five spares. Team USA’s Joanne Reid and Leif Nordgren were lapped.
During the third leg, Dorin-Habert pulled away from the rest of the field, but her missed shot in standing gave Austria’s Hauser, who cleaned, an opportunity as her team took the lead at the final exchange.
But fate was not on their side as Eder used two spares in prone and from that point, it was about Austria defending second place rather than battling for the win. Fourcade’s fast skiing left his competitors no chance as he crossed the finish line alone, with Eder and Lesser chasing him in second and third respectively.
