Job Opportunity – Manager, Experiential Marketing @ Canadian Olympic Committee

December 26, 2016 – The Canadian Olympic Committee is looking for a Manager, Experiential Marketing to help us create meaningful brand experiences for all stakeholder groups.  The role will focus on the management of COC events & experiences across three core areas: Brand Marketing, Sport, and Corporate.   The position will be responsible for the planning and execution of each event throughout all phases of the process including objective setting, ideation, implementation, and post-event analysis.  The role will be responsible ensuring each event & experience aligns with the brand marketing objectives of the organization.

Based in Toronto and reporting to the Senior Manager, Brand & Partnerships, the Manager, Experiential Marketing is a proven marketer with depth of experience in event management.  The role will be responsible for budgeting, third party vendor relationships, and overseeing all relevant staffing needs.  The position will be a member of the Brand Marketing team and will collaborate and support other COC departments and their events & experiences needs including but not limited to, Digital, Marketing Partnerships, Communications, Operations, Sport, and the Canadian Olympic Foundation.

Manager, Experiential Marketing

Be part of building a national brand.  Headquartered in Toronto, the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) is a national, private, not-for-profit organization committed to high-performance sports excellence.  We are the largest private supporter of high performance sport in Canada and we are responsible for all aspects of Canada’s involvement in the Olympic Movement, including the participation in the Olympic and Pan American Games.

Core Responsibilities and Priorities

Events and Experiences (75%)

– Work closely with the Senior Manager, Brand & Partnerships to ensure that all COC events and experiences are strategically aligned with other brand and marketing activities and deliver the identified return on investment.
– Develop an annual Events & Experiences Plan that provides an overview of all COC events/experiences throughout the year including key objectives and success metrics for each event.
– Manage, plan, and execute COC signature events & experiences annually which may include but not be limited to:
Brand Marketing
– Pre-Games/Post-Games athlete celebrations
– Hall of Fame Gala & Induction Ceremony
– Press events & announcements
– Hospitality events
– Marketing partner workshops
– Canada Olympic House (at Olympic Games)
– Games-time activations in Canada
Corporate
– Board & Session meetings
Sport
– Games preparation and orientation conferences/workshops
– Team orientation seminars
– NSF Leadership Summits
– Game Plan Summit
– Manage the planning and execution of logistics for Canada Olympic House during Olympic Games years including planning, development, design, staffing, access & accreditation, special events, etc.
– Manage each individual event budget and revenues (if applicable).
– Manage the design, production, and delivery of all event branding including but not limited to pageantry, brand collateral, partner recognition, etc.
– Develop and maintain an events framework including clear processes and templates to create efficiencies and consistency across all COC events.  Including but not limited to: event calendars, planning tools, brand material inventory, event checklists, run of show, critical path, budget, etc.
– Negotiate third-party supplier contracts and relationships including event venues, audio visual services, catering, décor, entertainment, travel, accommodation, etc.
– Support third party events & fundraisers in which the COC is involved and/or a beneficiary including coordinating COC brand integration.
– Supervise and support the Coordinator, Events in all activities.

Brand Marketing (25%)

– Work with the Senior Manager, Brand & Partnerships to establish and maintain an integrated brand identity across all platforms.
– Support and maintain agency relationships (creative, media, research).
– Manage marketing partner integration into COC brand activations.
– Assist in establishing processes to ensure consistency and quality of all brand marketing assets produced by the organization.
– Manage the planning and logistics of milestone brand assets including both video and photo production.
– Assist in the production of brand guidelines and a framework for brand use for internal stakeholders.
– Manage logistical planning for any brand campaign related activities.

Qualifications and Critical Skills

– University Degree or College Diploma in related field (i.e. Marketing, Event Management, Communications, or similar)
– Minimum 5-7 years experience leading events and experiences and proven track record of delivering against objectives
– You have the ability to prioritize, multi-task, manage multiple projects and work streams with a focus on critical decision making
– You have an exceptional regard for high-quality standards with a fine eye for detail and deadlines
– You are a proven problem-solver and have analytical skills and the ability to evaluate a project plan and identify risks and contingencies
– You have the ability to self motivate and take initiative on projects
– You have experience managing third party suppliers, vendors, and agencies
– You have proven negotiation skills
– You have the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment and work on a cross-functional team
– You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
– Bilingualism (English & French is an asset).
– Excellent Microsoft Office skills are required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
– CMP certification is an asset
– Some overnight travel and off-site work required
