August 04, 2019 (Fayston, Vermont) – Over 150 athletes raced at the 10th annual App Gap Challenge on Aug. 4 at Mad River Glen, round #1 of the 2019 NENSA High Peaks Cyclery Rollerski Series p/b SkiTrax, in Fayston, Vermont.
Katherine Ogden (Dartmouth) and Simi Hamilton (SMS T2) took top honours in the Elite Women’s and Men’s races with Sophie Caldwell (SMS T2) taking second in the women’s race followed by Caitlin Patterson (Craftsbury GRP) in third. Ben Lustgarten (Craftsbury GRP) took second behind Hamilton followed by Adam Martin (Craftsbury GRP) in third. Competitors skied a pursuit format, starting with the skate leg, and then transitioning to classic mid-course at the parking lot of Mad River Glen, before making the push to the top. The 5-stop 2019 High Peaks Cyclery Rollerski Series p/b SkiTrax will continue on Sept. 15-16 weekend with the NYSEF Challenge (3km prologue followed by 1.5km Sprint) and the legendary Climb to the Castle race on day two. The Fall Rollerski Classic is next on Oct. 12 at the Ethan Allen Training Site and the Series wraps up this fall with the NENSA Elite Invitational at Trapp Family Lodge on Nov. 2.
