May 15, 2015 – Marit Bjørgen and Martin Johnsrud Sundby, both from Norway, dominated not only last year’s FIS Cross-Country World Cup and the FIS Tour de Ski, but also topped the prize money list standings from last season.
With her 23 World Cup wins (prize money for the World Ski Championships are not included in the ranking), 5 second places, 3 third places and 1 fourth place Bjørgen has won the total amount of 332,650 CHF (approx. $365,000 US/$430,000 CDN).Runner up in the overall World Cup standing Therese Johaug finished in second place with 160,375 CHF. Third place goes to Heidi Weng with 109,625 CHF. Bjørgen won the largest portion of the prize money during the FIS Tour de Ski as she collected 90,000 for the overall Tour de Ski victory and added 30,000 CHF for stage results prize money.
Martin Johnsrud Sundby also won the Overall World Cup standing and the FIS Tour de Ski but comparing to Bjørgen earned “only” 193,900 CHF. The Sprint World Cup winner Finn Hågen Krogh won 105,250 CHF to finish 2nd behind Sundby. Petter Northug collected 102,125 CHF and is 3rd in the men’s World Cup prize money ranking.Women
