March 29, 2019 (Presque Isle, Maine) – Sadie Bjornsen (APU) and Simi Hamilton (SMS T2 Elite Team Rocket Ship) topped the women’s and men’s senior fields in the Freestyle Sprint competitions as the USSA SuperTour Finals got underway today in Presque Isle, Maine.
Both Bjornsen and Hamilton qualified fastest as well and were unstoppable en route to victory. Ida Sargent (Craftsbury Green Racing Project) finished second on the final women’s podium followed by Julia Kern (U23 SMS T2) in third. Alaska’s Erik Bjornsen (APUNSC) powered to second overall in the men’s final with Canadian U23 skier, Graham Ritchie (NTDC TBay) claiming third overall. Next up are the 10/15km Classic distance mass start races on Saturday, March 30. The following day’s highlight is the relay event as clubs vie for national titles. Then the final medals of the season will be on the line again in 30/50km long-distance U.S. Championships mass start freestyle races on Tuesday, April 2 to wrap up the season.
