March 08, 2015 (Kontiolahti, FIN) – Canada’s Rosanna Crawford climbed back from 32nd to finish 25th with three penalties as the top North American in the women’s 10km Pursuit won by Marie Dorin Habert of France who also had three missed targets. Germany’s Laura Dahlemeier took home the silver with two penalties at 15.3s behind, while Weronika Nowakowska-Ziemniak of Poland captured the bronze with three penalties at 31.6s back.
Fellow Canuck Megan Heinicke had a strong day on the range with only two penalties, but is still struggling with her speed following a recent illness finishing 28th. Susan Dunklee (USA) missed six targets to finish 34th while rookie Clare Egan suffered seven penalties dropping to 52nd from 40th.
“Tonight we had the best conditions we’ve seen yet with icy, fast snow and manageable levels of wind on the range,” Dunklee said. “My shooting percentage was nothing special but I am satisfied with how I executed my race plan. That is a big improvement from yesterday. I was relaxed and enjoyed the thrill of chasing people down; it felt more like my normal self.”
Julia Ransom, competing in her first World Championship sprint on Saturday, and pursuit on Sunday, finished the pursuit in 57th.
