Guests included Stoermer Steira’s Norwegian teammates Marit Bjoergen, Therese Johaug, Ingrid Flugstad-Oestberg and Vibeke Skofterud. Among the Canucks who made the journey to share in the celebrations were Alex Harvey, Phil Widmer, Jesse Cockney, Drew Goldsack, and Graham Nishikawa.
Stoermer Steira recently retired after a stellar career highlighted by an Olympic bronze medal in 30km Mass Start Free at Sochi 2014; Olympic relay gold at Vancouver 2010; three golds out of eight medals at the Nordic Worlds; and 22 World Cup podiums including six golds.
Kershaw, who hails from Sudbury, had a record-shattering 2011/12 season when he captured second overall in the men’s World Cup, and won Canada’s first sprint gold along with five World Cup medals. In 2011 he and Alex Harvey made history in the Team Sprint winning Canada’s first-ever Nordic World Championship gold medal at the Holmenkollen in Oslo, Norway.
