January 03, 2012 (Rumford, ME) – After a brief one-day postponment due to overnight rain and warm temperatures the 2012 US XC Nationals got underway on Tuesday at Black Mountain in Rumford, Maine. Jessie Diggins (CXC) and Torin Koos (BSF/Rossignol) claimed the first national titles winning the 1.4/1.6km freestyle sprints fending off all challengers.
CXC swept the women’s podium as Caitlin Gregg was second and teammate Jennie Bender was third.
Following Koos in second was Dakota Blackhorse-von Jess (Bend Endurance Academy) with Tyler Kornfield grabbing third.
“It’s even more special when you share the podium with your teammates,” said Diggins – catch the full post-race interview with Peter Graves below.
