The 2015 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun (SWE) saw an extensive doping control programme that was the most comprehensive anti-doping programme at a winter sports event outside of the Olympic Winter Games.
126 in-competition urine samples, including 96 EPO and 32 serum blood samples were collected by the Swedish Anti-Doping Agency from the top-four plus two randomly selected athletes at every medal competition. Sample analyses were undertaken by the Huddinge University hospital, Anti-Doping Laboratory in Stockholm (SWE).
FIS complemented the testing programme in Falun with 177 athlete blood passport samples on Cross-Country and Nordic Combined skiers before and during the event. A comprehensive out-of-competition programme before the Championships was organised by FIS.
At the 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Vail-Beaver Creek, a total of 66 in-competition urine and 22 blood samples were collected by the US Anti-Doping Agency from the top-four plus two randomly selected athletes at every medal competition. Athletes from 18 different nations were tested and all samples were analysed at the Salt Lake City laboratory in Utah.
