September 11, 2017 (Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC) – Formica Canada Inc. is proud to support Cendrine Browne, a rising star in Canadian cross-country skiing, in the run-up to the Olympic Games. Cendrine posted excellent results during the 2016-2017 World Cup season, which enabled her to meet two of the three Olympic criteria needed to compete in the upcoming Olympic Games to be held from February 9 to 25, 2018, in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Cendrine will participate in several events in the coming months during which she’ll have the chance to achieve the third criterion she needs to qualify for the Games.
Cendrine has been a cross-country skier since she was 15 and quickly set herself apart. She finished fourth at her first Canadian championships in 2010 and came first in 2011. After that, she joined Team Québec and was selected to continue her training at the Centre national d’entraînement Pierre Harvey in Quebec City. In 2013, she joined the National Junior Cross-Country Ski Team. She logged the best North-American result in 2013 by finishing fifteenth at the World Championships held in the Czech Republic. She won Ski Trax’ best North-American skier award and was offered a spot on the Canadian National Senior Team. In 2016-2017, she participated in the Nordic Ski World Cup and posted several top-30 finishes, in addition to helping the Canadian team place tenth in the 4 x 5 km relay at the World Championships in Lahti, Finland. “I’m delighted to have the support of Formica Canada Inc., a home-grown company that manufactures beautiful, durable, practical and innovative products with a genuine concern for protecting the environment. With my training and the World Cup events, my schedule will be hectic in the run-up to the Olympic Games in South Korea, and Formica’s generous support will help me concentrate on preparing and delivering the best sports performances I can,” says Cendrine Browne.“Cendrine is a young athlete who’s shown excellent progression in recent years in a very demanding sport. Inspired by her idol, world champion Alex Harvey, Cendrine’s goals are just as ambitious, and she’s working hard to cement her position among the world’s elite Cross-Country skiers,” says Christelle Locat-Rainville, Marketing Director at Formica Canada Inc. “Her passion for the sport and her determination match the values of all Formica’s employees.
