November 19, 2017 (Gällivare, SWE) – Canada’s Dahria Beatty finished 23rd in the women’s 1km CL Sprint on Sunday as local favourite Stina Nilsson (Swe) took top honours. Natalia Matveeva (Rus) was second and Yulia Belorukova (Rus) was third. The USA’s Kikkan Randall who had a solid start in the 5km FR (8th) and 10km CL (15th) elected to sit out the sprint telling Trax, “Yep, just didn’t want to get too greedy the first weekend.  Two races was a good start.”

In the men’s race Len Valjas was the lone Canuck to qualify in 24th to finish 29th on the day as Sweden’s Oskar Svensson took the qualification and final victory as well. Teodor Peterson (Swe) was second followed by Olympic star, Nikita Kruikov (Rus), in third.
