Claude Laramée Receives Dollard-Morin Award for Gatineau Loppet and Ski Tour Canada Contributions

November 26, 2016 (Quebec) – On the occasion of presenting the Dollard-Morin Sports and Leisure Volunteer Award, the Minister of Justice and Minister responsible for the Outaouais region, Ms. Stéphanie Vallée, MP Of Hull, Mrs. Maryse Gaudreault, and the Member of Parliament for Pontiac, Mr. André Fortin, warmly congratulate Mr. Claude Laramée, Regional Winner, and Mr. Richard M. Bégin, National Recreation Winner, both from Gatineau.

“Some people stand out for their generosity, passion and know-how. These qualities make them leaders in their community. The two winners of the region are among them. I congratulate them for the many deserved tribute they receive this year and warmly thank them for the quality of their commitment. They are a source of inspiration for the entire Outaouais region,” said Minister Vallée.

“Thanks to his exceptional contribution to the development of sporting events such as Gatineau Loppet and Ski Tour Canada 2016, Claude Laramée is helping to bring out our magnificent region both locally and internationally. Mr. Laramée is now reaping the rewards of his involvement in the community. On my own behalf and on behalf of the residents of the riding of Hull, I want to congratulate him and thank him for his hard work,” added MP Gaudreault.

“Preserving our past is the foundation of our future. Mr. Richard Bégin, this award demonstrates your passion for our community and our history. For your unwavering commitment, we will always be grateful to you,” added MP Fortin.

The awards ceremony took place at the Parliamentary Restaurant of the Parliament Building in Quebec City. It honored 23 laureates who distinguished themselves by the quality of their commitment to recreation and sport in one of the following areas: regional, national, succession or volunteer support.

“Thousands of volunteers contribute to the realization of numerous leisure and sport projects throughout Quebec. Whether organizing events or acting as coaches or administrators, they are a tremendous asset because without them, citizens would not have the opportunity to engage in sport and recreation. I want to salute their commitment and convey to them, on behalf of the people, our most sincere thanks,” said Minister Proulx.

The Dollard-Morin Award, created in 1992, is under the responsibility of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, in partnership with the regional leisure and sporting units, the Conseil québécois du loisir, SPORTSQUÉBEC and l Association of Municipal Leisure. It honors individuals and organizations that have distinguished themselves in their communities through the quality of their commitment to recreation and sport.
