August 18, 2016 (Ushuaia, ARG ) – The first Cross-Country Technical Delegates seminar in South America took place in Ushuaia (ARG) on 23rd and 24th July 2016 with participants from Argentina, Brazil and Chile. The seminar was led by Len Apedaile (CAN) and provided an overview on the most significant rules and changes for the upcoming season.
Driven by an ambitious Cross-Country athlete development programme in Brazil, all three nations are working closely together to build sport capacity through athlete, coach, officials and facilities development.
Currently, Ushuaia has the only FIS homologated courses in South America. Therefore, visits to new potential sites including Bariloche, Caviahue (both ARG), Puntarenas, Lonquimay and Termas de Chillan (all CHI) were conducted.
All in all, the seminar was an important milestone for developing Cross-Country Skiing in South America.
