August 15, 2014 – The Canadian team is in training mode and we caught up with Justin Wadsworth, Head Coach of the Canadian National Cross-country Ski Team, to check on the team’s progress, the transition to their new set up adding Norwegian coach, Tor Arne Hetland, and other changes – read more here. The team has remained in North America this training season, primarily due to budget cuts, but Wadsworth says the facilities and terrain here are quite suitable and cutting down on travel time pays dividends as well “…still we like the Snow Farm in New Zealand and look forward to getting back there soon.” Wadsworth also talks about the development side of the new program and the rebuilding process underway on the women’s team which lost Chandra Crawford, who retired, and Daria Gaiazova who decided it was time to make a transition.
HO-HUM—what a deal for Justin—who is taking care of the girls—it needs to happen soon as there was nothing there in the form of coaching leadership/direction for the last 4 years at any level!
More later.
