May 05, 2015 – At the recent CCSAA 2015 conference held at Mont-Ste-Anne, QC, SkiTrax caught up with Fischer USA’s outgoing Nordic Vice President, Peter Ashley, who announced his retirement in October after being with the company for 20 years. Longtime Fischer New England rep, Steve Reeder, was promoted to fill Ashley’s shoes. “I have worked with Steve the entire 20 years that I have been at Fischer,” said Ashley. “Steve has been involved with Fischer at every level and I expect this transition to go very smoothly.”
In this interview, we learn about Ashley’s history in Nordic skiing, how his love of snow sports was born from his roots in Jackson, Wyoming, his years as a coach and his storied career at Fischer. SkiTrax wishes Ashley all the best in his retirement and congratulations to Reeder on his promotion.

How great to see my young friend PA in this interview. He talks about the dawn of skating on the World Cup and at WC in 85. I remember that I was coaching juniors in Jackson Hole when PA called me from Europe and said, “take the kick wax away from your kids!” I said “What are you crazy?” “No I mean it make em ski up Homesite (at Trail Creek Ranch) w/ no kick wax.” So we did and it started there and then. PA you look great! Enjoy the next chapter. Let’s go skiin’.
